Music Industry In India

To me music is not just a word it is a bundle of emotions. Whenever I am in a good mood I play  music and when I need my mood to be good I play music. Not just me but most of us rely on music to comfort us. Music can make  that road trip so much more memorable. Music becomes our best companion on those lonely nights. It makes a ‘Bad day’ better. 

The music I listen to is mostly Bollywood and  would like to put forth my views on the kind of music made in the industry.

According to me the songs can be divided in the following categories.

1 THE REMAKES

2 REPETITION OF THE CATCH PHRASE

3 THE SHOWOFF SONG

4 THE SONGS HAVING  QUALITY

   THE REMAKES

Aren’t remakes the best ways to learn money? Just pick one popular songs from the 1900s , add the pumping music to it , make  it all sparkling  and we are done. We the audiences are going to feel nostalgic and listen to it on repeat. Well to have a few remakes here and there is okay but Bollywood has definitely crossed the limit.   The thing with remakes it that it takes away the authenticity of the song and after a few listens it loses its charm. It’s also super annoying to hear the same songs again and again. I will list down the songs which have been remade  in the last few year

And the list goes on ….I personally love some of the remakes. The makers of the songs have retained the authenticity while adding their own flavor to it.  Being high on my list of favorite remakes is   ‘ Hothon Se Chhu Lo Tum’ by Mohammed Iran. Second would be  ‘ Isharon Isharon Mein’ BY Bhavya Pandit and

Abhay Jodhpurkarv. My go to covers are songs by the most popular boy band  of India ,Sanam .

Repetition of Catch Phrase

This category literally has no creativity. The ‘catch’ (see what I did there) here is to come up with a phrase which will click with people. Well they don’t even have to try for that. Just play that song in every mall and every radio station and soon people will start liking it. This is a proven fact that when a song is played again and again people start liking it.  

The first song I would like to talk about is  ‘ Paagal’

This song has over  200M views on Youtube.  When I heard the music I found it generic. So I decided to take a look at the lyrics ….well after removing the words ‘pagal hai’  we are left with very little to look at. ‘ teri mummy ki jai, kya cheez banai, doodh pe jaise aayi ho malaai’. All I want to say is why Badshah why…and as if this was not enough he goes on with ‘chitti chitti bang bang’. Honestly, I had to look at it twice to make sure I was reading the right thing.  The less said about this song is better.

THE SHOWOFF SONG

The aim here is to so show ki aap kitne ameer ho. This category includes most songs by Badshah , Honey Singh and of course the others . Every video here is basically the same. Fancy cars, flashy lights ,wine, girls….u get the picture right! On top of this they will add lyrics like ‘ Dance floor tere naam kara doon’, ‘ Aja mere paas , kar guzarish , paisa ki kya baat , kar doon noton ki baarish, ‘ Bas jitna aapki beti ek mahine mein udati hai, Ek hafte me mere gaadi utna tel khaati hai .

There is no individuality here….all the videos are just the same….

So lets give the industy  the credit which it deserves. There are some beautiful piece created which are just magic. I find myself listening to these all day. Whenever I am in good mood or in a bad mood I listen to my playlist to be in my own blissful moments.  So heres me sharing some of the masterpieces from the industry .
