Name of the Ted Talk : We Should All be Feminist  Speaker: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie  Duration: 30 mins 16 sec  Ted talk  The speaker of the Ted Talk ' We should All be Feminist ' is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She is a Nigerian writer who has diversity in her work.  The Ted Talk later was also published as an essay.  Adichie is seen shattering various myths associated with the word " Feminist". She establishes that anyone who believes in equal rights for both genders is a feminist. She touches upon topics such as gender pay gaps, subtle discrimination in the society, narrow definition of masculinity, focus on ability instead of gender.  She also speaks about how marriage is seen as an owner instead of a partnership. It is often the woman who has to sacrifice her dreams, her career, her passion in a marriage.  Towards the end of the speech, she challenges the societal norms and the culture where women are made to feel like lesser beings by mak...

Munawar Faruqui

Image
Munawar Faruqui      Disclaimer  As I am a fan of Munawar Faruqui this post might not entirely be unbiased (unlike his content) . I have been a fan of Munawar Faruqui ever since he dropped his first video on YouTube and with his newer videos the admiration for him increased 10 fold.  I love stand up comedy and spend hours watching videos on YouTube and I can write in stone that Munawar is like none other (no, I am not exaggerating ) .  Throughout the videos you are either laughing hard or having "ohho" moments (without him putting the editing effects ).  Recently I decided to Google him up to find out more about him . And I was shocked to read articles where he was called Hinduphobic , his jokes are misunderstood, just so much hate ( itne hate kyu troll - Bhai ?) . I didn't find  decent articles on him even on Quora ( I really think highly of Quora). So , I decided to write about him ,  if trolls can Invest their time an...

On The Path

Leaving behind the warmth of the hills , the tenderness of the river  I walked into this ever buzzing city. The skies here too light up every single day but the stars are missing. The noise here is overwhelming, Crumpling the whispers of the wind. The birds here seem to have forgotten that they have magic in their voice or is it me who has forgotten to listen.  The travellers here seem so focused , So determined to reach the destination While I wonder aimlessly still looking for the right path Been here for quite sometime and the right path feels like a Mystery. Like a Myth. Amid the loud noise I heard a whisper from within ,soft but strong, "Roads are not found, Roads are made"

Reaction to CarryMinati's roast. Tiktok vs YouTube

Image
Recently my quora notifications are filled with requests on writing about my opinion about CarryMinati's roast on Tiktok . I am overwhelmed, people want to listen to my opinion. I mean it's  not like people just randomly send requests , par muhje toh celebrity wali feeling leni hai. Toh Chalo yaar , like others , hum bhi Carry ke naam par views lete hai. CarryMinati Before we get into the actual topic let us discuss a little about CarryMinati. I am not a fan of him but I admire the commitment to his work.  As we all know that CarryMinati is amongst the best roasters in the country. He definitely has worked his way up. He has always put in lot of effort in his videos. The thing I really like about CarryMinati is that he is not afraid to try different things. He did receive a lot of criticizism for the songs he made but that didn't stop him from making more. And I am extremely happy with his decision because he should try different fields of art to explore and l...

Tiktok vs YouTube

Image
If you are not living under a rock then you will know that currently the hot topic is Tiktok vs YouTube.  It all started with Elvis Yadav making a roast video on Tiktokers. This , however, was not received well by some Tiktokers and a reply was given to the YouTube roasting community by Amir siddique. He tagged various roasters in that video. Very naturally he was given a reply, not only by the creators who were tagged but also others . I have almost watched all the videos on this topic. There were replies which where extremely sensible while some where just crap. For example , my favorite, Lakshay bhaiyya in his reply called people "Chakka " and other such things. What was extremely annoying in this video was Lakshay's attempt at shayri and trying to at cool. Yaar lakshay it just added more " cringe" to the whole video. Par your videos are anyways "cringe " so chalta hai. Then there were replies by Saimansays , Dankrushu and others which w...

Entertainment industry and break ups

Image
So I have been scrolling through memes for quite some time now. What I realized is that most memes are made on break ups and how the girls are the villains in very story. Okay , I understand that you are hurt par yaar itne memes ek hi topics pe Kyu yaar. I was quite frustrated by this par yaar memes toh memes hoti hai   Recently I got interested in raps . So I started looking for some good raps . Par guess what , all I found was rappers narrating HOW MUCH they have struggled, dissing other rappers or bitching about the girl who left them. I am no longer interested in raps .  Like seriously yesterday I saw a video called  " Girlfriend" and it's the stupidest thing ever . In this rap this dude keeps on trash talking about how his girls just ran behind money, they are selfish and shit like that. And I decided I have to write about this . What really annoyed me is that he is a very famous personality with over 3 million subscribers on YouTube so h...

Famous YouTubers and their content !

Image
YouTube is a source of entertainment for most of us. I guess most  middleclass Indians do not have Netflix...or  is it just me ?  Anyways , lets talk about the famous YouTubers and their content.  1 . Ashish chanchalani vines  Ashish is one of the biggest Indian YouTubers with around 17.4 million subscribers on YouTube and 5.4 million followers on Instagram. Ashish is loved by many, most of his videos hit millions. That means he must be making great content right ? ! Here's a twist....he makes crap content and people enjoy watching that crap. In the month of March of 2017, 2018, 2020 the channel has uploaded a video on exams. Smart move. Most of the students have their exams in the month of March so obviously the video will receive many views . The problem with all these videos is that all of them are basically the same.  Kids are shown cheating, there is a strict teacher, teacher that favours a particular kids, students procrastinati...

Content driven channels on YouTube

It would not be wrong to say that most of the videos uploaded on YouTube are cringe and not worth watching, however these are the channels that have risen to great height. Well, I am not here to condemn these channels instead to appreciate those channels who have been consistent in uploading  content that is worthy of our time. So let's get started. Salil Jamdar & Co.  When we talk about good content, Salil Jamdar tops the list. The first video on the channel titled  Salil Ka Banana – Sheila Ki Jawani Parody  was uploaded on the 7 th  of March, 2018. This  is a parody of one of the most famous item songs in Bollywood. He reasons that good films can be made without item songs. He also raises the issue to gender inequality in the industry. Since then he has made several parody on the issues such as the Nirav Modi scam, Nepotism in BollyWood , actors advertising products that can be harmful for the common folks.  The parody that caught the most ...

Growing up in a middle class family

So today I decided to write about what it is like living in a middle class household. It's actually not easy growing up in a middle class family specially in this generation. As a child you are always compared to other children. Someone is always better than you in some or the other field. Someone is always a better singer, better at academics , someone is always more mannered than you. You are never good enough for your family. Our parents expect us to be all rounders. If you are good at performing art...then that's not something they will support you to do. It's not something which you can pursue. If you are good at academics than they want you to be like that person who is dancing and singing at various events. They look at you as if you haven't achieved anything in life more like you haven't given them a chance to show off infront of the relatives . Tired from the pressures of proving ourselves , from the dejection of not achieving our goals we can'...

Kartik Purnima review

Kartik Purnima is a new show aired on Star Bharat. The cast includes Harsh Nagar, Poulomi Das, Meenakshi Verma, Ravi Gossain , Har Preet Singh, Nidhi Shah. The promo stars the main leads of the shows. It’s shot on a street where kids are playing cricket. The ball accidently hits one of the windows on the street. Purnima (the female lead) is quick to snatch the bat from the kids , implying that she hit the ball. In return she receives the same old ‘ kitne kali hai, rang kaisa hai’ crap.  This however, has no impact on purnima as she is shown smiling after returning the bat. Kartik is shown amused by the incident. So when I first saw the promo, I thought it was promising. It was raising concerns over shaming people based on their colour of the skin. So I started watching it(I mean, bohot kam options hai Indian television mein toh what’s the harm). After watching a few episodes I was extremely disappointed by how the character Purnima was projected. Purnima belongs to a middle...

Is The English Language Overrated ?

‘ English is a very funny language, I can talk English , walk English , I can laugh english’ I don’t know about funny, but English is just a language for sure. However, majority of the Indians do not feel the same. In our country, this language is on a pedestal. If someone is fluent in English, they are considered superior. When I was admitted to an English medium school, it was a proud moment for my family. The main focus of the family was that I should become extremely fluent in the language. It was a challenge for me because no one, absolutely no one in my family was even slightly familiar with the language.  My mother took upon herself to make sure that over the years I become good at English. It did not take me long to learn the language. In fact, I was amongst the best in my class. My family was proud and would often boast about the fact that their kids (my sister and i) were good at the subject. Everyone around me, my parents, teachers, classmates implied that knowin...

TreeSena || Saiman Says|| Mission Green Mumbai

Why are trees important? Now this is something that every person is aware of. There is  not one but numerous benefits of trees being around. Trees are an intwgral part of an ecosystem. They provide the vital gas oxygen, preserve soil, converse water, improve air quality , support the wildlife , control climate and so much more. Trees also play a huge role when it comes to commercial and economic use. They provide a lot of raw materials that are required for commercial activities. To name a few, wood pulp is used to make paper, the fruits and nuts of the trees are sold in the market or used as raw material , timber is used for construction purposes , to make furniture etc . Despite the several benefits provided by the trees there are many deforestation activities taking place in the country in the name of Development. The importance of environmental well being is often ignored and over looked in most countries. Usually the governments prefer to build institutions that give m...

Same Sex Relationships in India

The of same sex relationship is often frowned upon in India . It is considered   ‘ abnormal’ for a person to be in a same sex relationship.   It is important to have discussions on this topic because it is indeed a real situation. When a child finds himself or herself attracted to the same sex they should know that it is normal and should not be afraid to accept it. Discussions on this topic are needed so that people do not make fun of people who are gay or lesbian. However , the situation in India is quite different. Certain sections of the society are not even ready to accept that there is such a thing as same sex relationship. It is quickly brushed off by claiming that   ‘ it is a disease’ or that ‘ it is just a phase’. The biggest challenge for a same sex couple is to convince their parents. I don’t know the exact figures but there are very few parents who are supportive of their children’s decision to be in a same sex relation.     Most parents are a...
