And the race begins
Hey there ,
So Summer's here! A season to enjoy ice-cream. To gulp down the sweet mango juice. To spend those lazy nights under the blanket of stars . Sounds fun right.
Well, think again. Summer is the season when exams are over. And for some the 'BOARD EXAMS' are over.
When students finish that last paper, there is no end to their happiness. Oblivious to the fear of results looming close by.
Finally the day of the results arrives! With hearts in their hands the students check their marks. Those numbers on the computer screens decide their future . Those numbers decide whether they have won or lost the war in which they were hurled since childhood.
While some people celebrate their victory a majority of the students spend their time wondering what went wrong ? Why has the world suddenly turned dark? Why has everyone ,even the parents started looking down at them? Is this the end ?
To me all this seems so weird, infact extremely ridiculous. The grading system itself is erroneous. On top of that students have to bear the wrath of their parents, teachers , relatives and so on.
Let me tell you this, being a student is not easy. Studies and the syllabus do put tremendous pressure on students, however, it is the expectation that exert more pressure.
The expectation to score high, the expectation to be ahead of everyone, the expectation to always win! And when these exceptions are not met, the child is considered worthless.
At this stage I would like to request the parents and others who think that board marks define their child's intelligence to pause and reconsider this thought. Think who has failed the child for not scoring high or the society for setting up such ridiculous standards
Please look beyond that mark sheet and see the child for who he/she is . Encourage them to follow their passion .
I would like to conclude by a line from one of my favorite songs 'Kandhon Ko Kitaabon Ke Bojh Ne Jhukaaya
Rishwat Dena Toh Khud Paapa Ne Sikhaaya
99 Percent Marks Laaoge Toh Ghadi Warana Chhadi'.
Guys please make sure you comment and send feedback
ReplyDeleteHey girl!
ReplyDeleteI really agree with your thoughts!
I am glad we have youth like you in India!
you are very expressive with your thoughts!
I would encourage others also to comment and motivate this little girl! :)
God bless!!!!!!!!!
Woow Preethi I couldn’t agree more! Marks have never really defined how smart a person is. In fact these reasons are the cause for children to loose their self esteem and confindence! Way to go girl!
ReplyDeleteThat's great and it's nice to hear from youth what they think and if you think it's wrong you have the power to change it . You only can be the change which will make our society a better place to live in. Keep going on.
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts... I guess if any parent would read this, that would understand that a single piece of paper cannot decide their child's future... Keep it up... ☺️☺️☺️ššš
ReplyDeletePreethi, glad that you're able to see the futility in this mindless competition and the harm that it causes to youth psyche. Do check out -
